Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved service.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional title, took control to force a third set.

He saved four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
